Interior space & people capacity:
The 17.6 Open Bow has the same passenger seating area as the 20’ Open Bow but it lacks the massive storage space of the 20’ Open Bow and passenger space of the 20’ Barefooter Open Bow. The 17.6 Open Bow is US Coast Guard rated for 5 people. Both 20' Open Bows are US Coast Guard rated for 7 people.
Standard Equipment:
Dyna-Ski 17.6 Open Bow has a two color hull, the two color interior, drivers bucket seat, passenger bench or bucket seat, standard rear bench seat, boarding platform with ladder, Teleflex tilt Hydraulic steering*, Recessed Control, 3" GPS Speedometer and 3” Tachometer, 2" fuel, trim, water pressure and voltmeter, High Efficiency cables, motor wiring, oil tank with one gallon of oil, $25.00 of gasoline, battery, 4 bladed stainless steel prop also includes mounting the motor and water testing if possible on a new black custom welded Phoenix bunk trailer with full length center bunks, bow stops, vertical side guides, four bunks and swing tongue.
*The hydraulic steering can be changed for non feedback steering which is less expensive if a non V-6 engine is put on a 17.6 Open Bow.
Dyna-Ski 20' Open Bow has a two color hull, the two color interior, drivers bucket seat, passenger bench or bucket seat, standard rear bench seat, boarding platform with ladder, Teleflex tilt Hydraulic steering, Recessed Control, 3" GPS Speedometer and 3” Tachometer, 2" fuel, trim, water pressure and voltmeter gauges, High Efficiency cables, motor wiring, oil tank with one gallon of oil, $25.00 of gasoline, battery, 4 bladed stainless steel prop also includes mounting the motor and water testing if possible on a new black custom welded Phoenix bunk trailer with full length center bunks, bow stops, vertical side guides, four bunks, swing tongue and surge brakes.
Dyna-Ski 20' Open Bow Barefooter has a two color hull, the two color interior, drivers bucket seat, passenger bench or bucket seat, standard rear bench seat, boarding platform with ladder, Teleflex tilt Hydraulic steering, Recessed Control, 3" GPS Speedometer and 3” Tachometer, 2" fuel, trim, water pressure and voltmemter gauges, High Efficiency cables, motor wiring, oil tank with one gallon of oil, $25.00 of gasoline, battery, 4 bladed stainless steel prop also includes mounting the motor and water testing if possible on a new black custom welded Phoenix bunk trailer with full length center bunks, bow stops, vertical side guides, four bunks, swing tongue and surge brakes.
The Barefooter does not have a sun deck so there is more interior space than the 20’ Dyna-Ski Open Bow.
Engine capacity:
17.6 Open Bow is US Coast Guard rated for a maximum of a 150 HP engine. We rate the 20' Open Bow models for a 250 HP engine. Maximum horsepower engines will push the boats faster than you need to barefoot water ski. Dyna-Ski Boats are not go fast boats they are water ski boats with tracking fins for stability.
Engines: Evinrude E-Tech and Mercury Optimax are both two cycle (stroke) engines and cost about the same in the end. I suggest you purchase the brand of motor you can easily get serviced locally. The motor is really the only piece of the boat that should ever need service. We do not have much call for other brands of engines (I assume) because of the additional cost.
Engine options:
Evinrude G2 Engines
Mercury Four Stroke Verado Engines
Power Assist for the hydraulic steering. Often added to multiple engine Dyna-Ski Boats.
Evinrude G2 engines come standard with electronic controls. Power assist hydraulic steering is available on the G2 engine.
I-CONN Digital Controls & Engine Monitoring for V-6 Evinrude Motors (Digital Throttle & Shift)
SmartCraft Digital Controls & Engine Monitoring (Digital Throttle & Shift) for Mercury 175 and larger Verado Motors. This option can be ordered and is very similar to a Perfect Pass system they claim.
Colors:
Dyna-Ski Boats hulls are usually white with an accent stripe. The deck is usually white. The top color choice is a red stripe although blue and black are gaining market share. An all white Dyna-Ski boat costs a little less than one with a colored stripe. A solid color other than white costs more money. Boats that are mainly white seem to not show their age or be dated by the color. Boats that are colors other than white tend to be dated by the color chosen. Our graphics supplier can do boat wraps but wraps tend to only hold up for a couple years.
Single color hull
Two Color hull (standard is white with a colored stripe)
Three Color hull
Metallic Colors
Additional Boarding Platform
Ladder for additional Boarding Platform
Interiors:
Single Color Interior
Two Color Interior (standard)
Three Color Interior
Wrap Around Rear Seating (a straight rear bench seat is standard)
Covers & Tops:
Snap On Bow Cover
Snap On Cock Pit Cover
Mooring Cover
Bimini Tops
Other water ski accessories:
KW Motor Guard
KW Trick Release
Barefoot International V-Drive Boom
Barefoot Boom Extension (one or two of these are excellent for Dyna-Ski Boats with the rear mounted pylon)
Barefoot Boom Height Adjuster (makes possible quick adjustments of the height of the barefoot boom)
KW Extended Pylon (replaces the stock Dyna-Ski Pylon)
Barefoot International w2923 Tower
Barefoot International w2906 Board Racks
Sound Equipment:
We can do AM/FM radios, power amps and such but I always suggest that you do them yourself or have a local shop do them. Sound equipment is the biggest source of problems in boats so having a local supplier is best I feel. There are locations for speakers and we can run wires if you like.
Trailers:
If you live on a lake and only use your trailer for off season storage the bow stops and vertical side guides can be eliminated but the savings are slight.
Tandem Trailer for a 20' Open Bow painted black with brakes on one axle with bow stops and vertical side guides. Tandem trailers are harder to push around the driveway and in the garage.
Galvanized trailers are available for salt water use.
Weights:
We put the 17.6 Open Bow on a 2800 lbs capacity trailer*. The 17.6 Open Bow boats seem to be fine on a 2000 lbs capacity lift. The 20' Open Bows get a 3000 lbs capacity trailer with brakes. A 2500 lbs capacity lift works decent for the single motored 20' boats. It is better to have to excess lift or trailer capacity than to be undersized. *A 2800 lbs capacity trailer is the weight capacity on the trailer with the length we need for the 17.6 model. A trailer with less weight capacity is shorter, to short. There is little if any additional cost for the excess trailer capacity.
